This was my birthday gift from my husband (the ipod, not the case). I made the case for it, and then I made a case for the case. The inside cozy is made from heavy interfacing, a Japanese cotton print, clear vinyl over the screen, and a red snap on the back. I made the strap long in case I wanted to attach it to something. The second sleeve is made from clear vinyl, with a head-phone-ear-bud pocket on the back. It makes me feel really, really good that this is done. I had a lot of anxiety that the ipod would be destroyed by liquids, or dropping, or any number of catastrophes, so now I feel better. I'm making a matching camera case out of this fabric also.
I had a birthday party on Saturday, even though our birthday was a week ago. I like to have it later so I can invite all of my April-birthday friends without having all the work of a party on my real birthday. On my real birthday, my husband took us all out to The Ocean Club.
Cy's birthday was on Saturday, and he brought his tiny sample of a newborn baby with him. She was born on April 5th. I made her this blanket:
I also scored one of the prettiest rosaries I've ever seen. My friend Shannon gave it to me, and at the top of the cross is a tiny magnifying glass with an image of Mary.

Chris, whose birthday is April 18th, also came to our party, and I'm really only mentioning him to publicly shame him. I gave him a huge, bible-like cook book because he's always asking me how to cook things like mashed potatoes. He gave me a handful of plastic electrical caps that screw on over live electrical wires. Sure, I can use them, but I know he just grabbed them out of his garage on the way over. Thanks, Chris.
I started this six years ago. I machine pieced the top and then decided to hand quilt it. I hand quilted about 1/3 of it and then stashed it away. Hand quilting does not satisfy my need for instant gratification, but I had already done a lot of it, so I felt like I should continue what I started. That's why it sat in a closet for six years. I came to the conclusion that if I had to hand quilt it, it would never be finished. I machine quilted it, and the day after I decided to do that, it was done. I feel all Zen about it. Make a decision and follow through. It's a good lesson.
I made Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. I make it a few times a year. Part of the fun of having Thanksgiving when it's not Thanksgiving is enjoying it without any crazy family to ruin it.
I've been working on these blocks. It takes about ten minutes to make one, and I have about eighty left to make. I put in about twelve blocks a day. I'm going to machine quilt it when it's done, and then I might send it to the fair. I love the fair.

This is a photo of my favorite restaurant, and also what I order every time we go there. This particular item is not on the menu, and the chef makes it for me special. They have the best lobster bisque ever. Really.
I finished all the quilting on this today. I'm going to bind it tomorrow. My sister said she wished it was hers, so I know I did a good job. Yesterday, I put some more crochet time in on that scarf/hood thing. I'm going to finish it, but I'll never wear it because I don't like to wear stuff on my head.
I worked on this today. I've been working on it for a while. I run out of reds or beiges, and then I stop until I remember to get more. I really like traditional quilt patterns. They get me all excited, or as my kid says, they give me "wild guts".
I'm really excited about this. I basted it all yesterday and started quilting it today. It's made entirely of discontinued upholstery samples. They're all about 15" square, and when they discontinue them, you can do as you please with them. I have hundreds. I ferreted out all the reds, and came up with this ginormous quilt. I pre-washed all of them to avoid nasty surprises. I hope to have the quilting done in the next few days.
I also made this today. It's just a little book for remembering shit, and I put it together in about fifteen minutes. I used copier paper, and be damned fancy binding, I balls-out sewed the pages together.
On Thursday, one of the places I order stuff from updated my sample books. They added this Ultrasuede, in all these colors. I'm pretty excited about this. I'm ordering some Monday.
