I originally made that bag almost two years ago, and put photos of it on Flickr. I sold that one, but the one on the book cover is still in the envelope Lark sent it back to me in.
That polka dot stuff reminds me of the mother's dress in The Cat in the Hat. I have always loved that dress.
My goals here were to streamline the designs while maintaining features and functionality. I also wanted the seams to be as bulk-free as possible. I'm happy, but there is always room for improvement. I did make a pattern off of the wallets, so I can reuse it. Most of the time I just start cutting, and have to redo it all if I want another one like it. Having a pattern saves time.

This is what I made today. Both bags are made from embroidered vinyl and naugahyde.
This is the lining, made from polka-dot cotton, with an inside pocket.

We finished these about a week ago, and are thrilled with them. They come with a removeable strap, and shiny lining.
These chairs were reupholstered in bright green and purple. I really love them, and have lofty goals of making more stuff to rival them. These were thrift-store finds, and I was able to do as I pleased because they sit in our tattoo shop.
