It is now Halloween crunch time, meaning that this week I will be making costumes non-stop. I really love Halloween, and I'm planning a huge feast-like dinner. I also consider November 1st as the start of Christmas, so I'm excited about that too.
I finished this backpack last night:
Randi made another Stop, Drop and Roll in a different color scheme:
While I'd like to get a few bags knocked out this week, I think that will be put off in favor of Halloween and such. I want to figure out a way to hang pumpkins in my yard with clear thread (or wire?). That is all.
This is the first in Randi's new "Purses of Pain and Misery Series". It's pink and red vinyl. Randi's got a whole bunch like this planned.
I made these. They were done last night, but I wanted to wash them to make them shrink before I stuffed them. I put the buttons in today. I also painted my garage doors, and built a new place to take photographs. I used some MDF and bead board I had hanging around, and I painted it a very light blue. I love the concept, and it works really well, but we'll see how the color works out. I would have liked to have brighter light, but it was later when I took these. I'm greasy and have paint in my hair.
I made this little gal yesterday. It's linen, ticking and 1940's era reproduction prints left over from a couple quilts I made for my kids. I'm keeping the reason I made it under my hat for awhile.
I've also been working on a chair for my husband. It's a 1940's era platform rocker. This will be the second time I've reupholstered it, and this time it needs some repair work done to the frame. Photographs to be posted soon.
I had to take my iMac into the Apple store today. I made this bag to make it easier to get it from the car into the store. It fits the 17" iMac. Functional projects are the most satisfying for me. I have a really hard time making something that isn't functional, actually. I feel like it's a waste of time.
I'm tired. My mom's birthday is tomorrow and I'm making her a cake later.
It's leather, with the straps and appliques done in a feedsack reproduction. It's called "Guinea Pig Haircut", because my sister said that's the kind of hair you'd have if you carried this. I told her in order to carry her bag, you have to be a pussy-faced whore. Then I laughed really hard.
I'm outing some of my unfinished projects, hoping the exposure will shame me into finishing them. I have quite a few little chairs that need reupholstered. I collect them. This is one I bought for $15, and gutted it. I sanded and painted it, then couldn't decide what I should paint next. I also removed the old side rails and pocket-screwed new oak ones in their places. The springs need retied, and I need to upholster it.
This is a hood I started to crochet last month. I work on it when I"m watching T.V., but I just got a couple new books, so I put this aside.
I made the blue bag on the right. The one that says, "what a lovely bag". It's surreal, that's all. I'm not sucking my own dick about it or anything.
I don't like Matisyahu. I think he's a self-righteous fraud who believes he is qualified to provide spiritual advice and life-skill education when his only life experience is how to score the best chronic at the Phish show. What's with the Jamaican accent? He's a fucking Brooklyn Jew. While I'm on the subject, I don't like Panic! At the Disco either. Or My Chemical Romance. Or Lenny Kravitz. His time to O.D. is long overdue.
Don't listen to this if you're easily offended:
